Tricycle Media:
Tricycle Media supports and empowers outstanding producers and creators to make memorable content. Founded in 2014 by Sara Curran and Peter A. Sussman as a follow-up to their respective media careers in London, Los Angeles and Toronto, Tricycle Media is an effective advisor or often “chief ringmaster” (the name given to Sara by one of her partners,) operating behind the scenes of many media companies and hundreds of hours of film and television, ensuring that Tricycle Media’s partners and clients enjoy much success.
Advisory:
Tricycle Media works with many-award winning creators, producers, financiers, studios and distributors.
Incubator:
Tricycle Media has now seeded or helped to incubate a great many content companies and projects in the UK and North America.
Background:
Sara and Peter started Tricycle Media after more than 50 years (combined) as independents in the global content space.
They participated in thousands of hours of film and television, in Sara’s case, primarily during her years at Polygram Filmed Entertainment, Working Title Films and Universal Pictures International; and in Peter’s case, primarily during his years as a co-controlling shareholder of Alliance Atlantis Communications and CEO of its Entertainment Group.
Sara and Peter became uniquely skilled in global markets and as independents, finding ways for creators and producers to control and/or maximize content opportunities.
Sara capped off her years prior to Tricycle launching her own consultancy business during which she represented many of the premiere producers, distributors and creators in the UK, including on projects such as Oscar winner “The Favourite” and Golden Globe winner “The Night Manager.” Sara sold her consultancy business into talent agency YM&U where she worked for 5 years before leaving to start Tricycle Talent alongside Tricycle Media.
Peter capped off his 20 years being directly involved in the creation of content (including being personally nominated for 3 Golden Globe Awards and 4 Emmy Awards,) by assembling and launching for Alliance Atlantis in partnership with CBS and The Jerry Bruckheimer Company, the project he is often best known for, the CSI Television Franchise comprising the 3 series: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami and CSI: New York. After the selling of Alliance Atlantis to Goldman Sachs and Canwest, Peter was Co-Founder and Chairman of Aver Media, a global media financier primarily for producers and distributors of television programs and theatrical feature films. Aver Media financed more than 1,500 productions. Peter and his partners sold Aver Media to the Bank of Montreal, and it was during the Aver years that Peter began assisting and guiding producers and distributors, thus laying the foundation for his contribution to the launch of Tricycle Media with Sara. After Aver and alongside Tricycle Media, Peter was Chair of the Founder Group and then the Board for the unfortunately now failed Kew Media as a Special Purpose Acquisition Company on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
One of Tricycle Media’s first initiatives was guiding the launch of Kari Skogland’s company, Mad Rabbit Productions where Tricycle is a shareholder. Kari is an Emmy-nominated Director and Showrunner. Her work includes directing all 8 episodes of the Disney/Marvel series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” as well as multiple episodes (including the first 2 episodes) of the Blumhouse series for Showtime “The Loudest Voice in the Room.”
Tricycle Media is also a shareholder in 42 M&P, a leading management and production company whose shareholders include Lions Gate Entertainment. Peter was the first Chairman of 42 and continues today as a member of the 42 Board.
During his Aver Media years, Peter participated in the seeding of Embankment Films, one of the most celebrated global packagers and sellers of independent theatrical films whose work includes double-Oscar winner “The Father” starring Anthony Hopkins. Now via Tricycle Media, Peter continues on the Board of Embankment and as a shareholder.
Much like Peter’s role on the CSI Television Franchise, Tricycle Media was also responsible for assembling and launching with Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, the multi-award-winning and highly celebrated tv series “Schitt’s Creek.”
Tricycle Media participates in a few dozen additional companies and projects and serves as a financier for its sister company, Tricycle Talent.
